If you want to remind yourself why you love wooden boats make time to visit the team at AG Boat Works. If you want to fall in love with your wooden boat all over again take her to see the team at AG Boat Works.

After over 25 years of ownership it was time to re-fasten the hull of our beloved 34ft. Grenfell June Ruth. Working with Rob and Jean at AG was an incredible experience we knew she was in the hands of experts but witnessing their care and passion for our old girl was really something special. While we both learned an enormous amount about our boat and the art of woodworking we also made some great friends.

Rob and Jean did phenomenal work on our beloved Grenfell, we can’t wait to bring her back for more love and attention.
If you love wooden boats like I do you will love the team at AG Boat works.

My wife and I have annually used the services of Abernethy and Gaudin since purchasing our 1967 33 ft. Chris Craft five years ago.

Each year Rob, Jean and crew have gone out of their way to accommodate us for annual hull maintenance. Their busy timetable has always afforded time for our boat and the planning necessary to reserve moorage at the wharf and time for the boat shed.

The professionalism at Abernethy and Gaudin is second to none. All work is done beautifully and often there are pro-active suggestions or considerations or future work.

They have also worked well with other professionals in relation to mechanical and electrical improvements. They are well-versed in upgrades for your boat and have made many improvements to ours.

In the last two years Abernethy and Gaudin completed a beautiful exterior restoration of our boat. They removed the old paint, restored the mahogany wood and applied many coats of varnish which brought Mrs. Robinson back to her former glory. Our cabin top was epoxied and finished with a beautiful tred finish and design.

If that was not enough, Rob suggested that the extra teak he had amassed in the boat shed would look great on our decks. How could we say no? We have no regrets; the result was impressive and has added a whole new dimension to our boat! We are so happy to have had these decks done. Combined with new stainless forward and aft, the exterior of the boat presents as new. The next job will be the cockpit flooring. But that will have to wait; something to look forward to!

I recommend Abernethy and Gaudin as a reputable honest company to entrust your beloved boat to. If you love your boat as much as we do ours, then you will know how important it is to find a company that you can trust. Not only will you be happy with their work but you will enjoy the visit to their shop and a chat with Rob, Jean and crew. They are good people.

I am happy to recommend AG Boats. We have a 41 foot two tonner. I have dealt primarily with Rob Abernethy, although our boat Liz of Hanko was one of the first boats his partner Jean worked on when he started his apprenticeship as a shipwright with Jespersens.

I have found both A&G to be informative, descriptive of the work to be done, careful to insure that surrounding areas will not be damaged by workers or the work itself, and best of all they gave me progress updates.

Their challenge on Liz was to replace two mahogany planks port and starboard on a cold mold hull and, as well, to replace some minor deck rot aft over the lazzerette. The work was done promptly. You are welcome to look over Liz since we did not take photos.

They endeavor always to accommodate your needs and timetable. Should it be that we need further work (we have bought yet another wooden boat), we would have no hesitation re-engaging them for anything that might arise.
