MV BELLA

CA$135,000.00

MV Bella is a Bill Garden designed flush deck cruiser. We are the 4th owner with the previous owners having kept her in a boat house in Olympia Washington.
Bella (65ft LOA) was built in 1965 at the Vic Frank boat yard in Lake Union, Seattle, Washington. Bella’s semi displacement hull has a draft of 4 ft and is built of yellow cedar above the WL and red cedar below. From the chine down the hull is double diagonal planked on oak frames. Bella’s all teak decks, cap and hand rails are in good condition. May 2021 saw Bella have only her 3rd hull paint since 1965. A & G Boatworks of Brentwood Bay performed this work along with replacing numerous thru hulls.
Initially built at 55 ft LOA Bella was fitted with trim tabs, V Drives and intended to cruise at 22 knots. Her initial performance was not up to the owners expectations so Bella was extended by 10 ft. The trim tabs were removed, a stand up engine room was created and the V Drives switched to straight shafts.
The Detroit Diesel 8V-71’s are the original engines with approximately 5000 hours each. Fuel consumption at 8 knots and 1200 RPM is roughly 3 gallons per hour per engine. Fuel capacity is 500 gallons in two tanks. The engine room is accessed via the lower aft deck. Full walk around access to both engines is possible with a work bench and tool storage against the forward bulkhead. Aft of the engine room stairs is the 16kw Northern Lights generator with approx. 5000hrs. Port and starboard of the generator sit the two 32v battery banks that were replaced in July 2022.
Spending time on the exterior deck area of Bella is a true pleasure in fine weather. Wrap around decks bring you forward to the anchor windlass and the Rocna 88lb anchor. Entrance to the pilot house is via the starboard door or the aft door under the pilot house roof overhang which offers great protection if the weather turns fowl. Full 360 views are had in the well laid out pilot house. The helm station consists of NMEA 2000 monitoring system on one monitor with Furuno radar and chart plotter on the other. To port is a large space for traditional charts.
Forward down the companion way into the main living quarters and galley is the centrally located Dickinson diesel hydronic heater with cook top. The diesel heaters constant, dry warmth is spread by convection to most areas of Bella along and with a hydronic heating loop that descends below the galley floor and is tied into a radiator with forced air ducting to all cabins.
The first of three cabins is located forward of the galley. Port and starboard single bunks follow the shape of the Bella’s hull with ample storage for books above and clothes below. This cabins head is to port with sink, further storage and skylight above.
Aft of the main living quarters and down a companion way to starboard is the second cabin with over under bunks, storage drawers, two hanging lockers and a head with sink and storage.
Furthest aft is the Captains cabin with a full size walk around queen bed. Two hanger lockers and a large clothes closet provide ample storage. Here also is the combo clothes washer/drier, a Dickinson bulkhead mounted propane heater and the largest of three heads with a generously sized shower and linen closet.
Below the galley is a large storage and machine space with access to: water maker with UV filter, hydronic radiator, Esbar diesel heater, sight gauges for fuel and water tanks, water heater(with port engine coolant loop), water pump with pressure tank, main bilge pump, back up bilge pump with three intake ports and a high water alarm.
Bella is a truly classy vessel that we have had the pleasure of calling our home over the past six years. She can be viewed in the heart of the Southern Gulf Islands in Ganges. Extras with sale could include owner financing for a portion of purchase price for qualified buyers, long term use of a well protected mooring buoy in Ganges Harbour and a 16 ft Campion runabout.
