General Description:
The vessel is a custom design, by Ed Monk Sr. Her hull form is semi-displacement, with a soft chine aft, and a keelson running aft to the propellers. Decks comprise trunk cabins forward and aft, and Bridgedeck above. Side decks rise to bulwarks forward, with an aft deck, and swimgrid.
Interior layout: Forward is a chainlocker with access from the forecabin. The forecabin comprises a large V-berth on centre, ensuite head to port, with a sink, and storage opposite. Stairs access the salon. The salon is furnished with a settee and dining area to port with a galley along the starboard side. There are doors to the side decks on both sides, and a settee at the aft bulkhead. Machinery spaces and water tanks occupy the area under the salon cabin sole.
A portside companionway leads from the salon to the aft cabin, housing a head to starboard, and a large double berth to starboard, and another to port. Centreline stairs lead to a small aft deck with fuel tanks under, and a swimgrid on the transom.
Stairs lead to the bridgedeck above the aft cabin, with a helm seat, and a folding deck chair. An L-shaped settee is to starboard, with the propane storage under, and lockers under the remaining portion.
Hull:
Hull is Yellow Cedar planking on oak frames at 7" centres. Planking is nominally 1.25" thick, and is in great condition.
Decks/Superstructure:
Decks are of double layer plywood construction over full-width deck beams, and topped by a layer of FRP.
Cabin tops are paint finished
Cabin superstructure is of mahogany.
Bridge:
The bridge incorporates a fixed helm seat, and 1 deck chair and a large fixed L-shaped settee to starboard. A Perspex windshield, mahogany framed is fitted. A full canvas cover with back encloses the bridge deck.
IDEAL vertical anchor winch with chain bit. 2 x hawse pipes lead to chain locker below. Mahogany handrails atop painted metal posts in bronze bases extend forward as far as the windshield. A single towing bit amidships at the bow handles mooring lines, with 2 x 10" cleats at the stern. The forward deck cabin has a hatch suitable for emergency escape. All deck hardware is securely fastened, and bedded in sealants.
The bridge helm station is fitted with hydraulic steering, and separate MORSE throttle and shift controls for each engine.
Machinery:
The vessel was repowered, from twin Chrysler 440CID engines to twin Cummins 6B5.9TM producing 210 HP each.
The engines drive through 1 3/8" stainless steel shafts with 2 intermediate bearings per shaft. The backing plates for the 2 forward intermediate bearings have been renewed.
2 x 21" x 22" 4 blade new propellers are fitted.
Engine spaces are clean and bright, and well ventilated. In addition to natural ventilation, there are 2 12V extraction fans.
No generator is fitted.
Inverter:
A PORTAWATT 600 is fitted in the salon.
A POWERPLANT 300W unit is fitted in the aft head.
Fuel System:
Two welded aluminum tanks, of approx. 100 gallons each, fitted in the lazarette, with fills on either side deck and vented through the adjacent bulwark. Shut-offs on each tank.
Plumbing:
Heads:
2 x manual flush heads installed for overboard discharge. Each head space is enclosed with a vanity and sink.
Sea Connections:
All sea connections are cast bronze fitted with mostly new lever ball valve sea cocks.
Bilge pumping:
1 x RULE 1500 12V DC units with automatic float switch fitted in the forecabin, 1 RULE 110012V DC unit fitted in the bilge under the galley.
1x hand operated pump fitted under the salon floor.
Domestic Water Supply:
Water capacity is approx. 150 gallons in 2 welded aluminum tanks, situated forward of the engine spaces. Fill is from the starboard side deck, and a crossover pipe connects the 2 tanks.
FLO-JET Pressure pump.
FORCE 10 11 gallon hot water tank discharge is hosed into the bilge.
Ground Tackle:
IDEAL anchor winch.
BRUCE anchor, secured with stainless steel wire lock. Indeterminate length of chain and line.
