1952 Turner Clinker inboard boat
1952 Turner Boatworks Clinker inboard lifeboat. 12' 1" long, 4' 4" wide, 1'9" deep.
Snowdrop is for sale. She was last in the water at the 2019 Vancovuer Wooden Boat Festival at Granville Island. Since the festival is no longer happening, I am reluctantly selling her. Snowdrop has been the Festival every year since 1991. She has won many awards. She won "Best Classic Construction" in 1998, Best Power Yacht (under 30')" in 2003, "Best Traditional Construction" in 2005, "Best Power Yacht (under 30')" in 2009, "Best Work Boat or Work Boat Conversion" and the "Peoples Choice Award" in 2010, "Best Small Boat (Traditional Construction") in 2013, "Best Power Yacht (Under 30')" in 2015. Snowdrop won the "Peoples Choice Award" at the inaugural Hollyburn Sailing Club Wooden Boat Show in 2011.
Snowdrop was reframed in 2009 using yellow cedar frames. All repairs and history documented from March 13th, 1991 to date. Her log is at: http://www.urbanoarsman.com/the-log-of-snowdrop-a-1952-turner-12-four-man-lifeboat .
There is also a video of her trip down from Harrison Lake to the Hollyburn Sailing Club: http://www.urbanoarsman.com/before-rowing-snowdrops-epic-voyage-from-harrison-lake-down-the-harrison-and-fraser-rivers-to-hollyburn-sailing-club
She may well be the last of her kind. She is a great little boat that I am simply not using anymore. She has been in storage at my house since the last Wooden Boat Festival in 2019.
Snowdrop comes with a Garmin fishfinder/depth sounder/knotmeter, Airglide hooded compass, auto bilge pump, eight fenders, hand bailer, hammer, log dog, gaff, running lights. The 1950 Wisconsin ABM (M for marine) engine (4.0 hp at 2800rpm) was rebuilt in 2009 and does not have a lot of hours of use on her. The Wisconsin engine has a marine forward/neutral/reverse transmission and the rare intake flame arrester. For show, she also has an age approprate spare gas tank and seven "heritage" life vests. She also has a flagpole and and pennant pole.
